Garlic Knots
Justin, 8/26/2005 11:43:25 AM
So I started a big thing in my office the other day...I was like I could really go for some Garlic Knots. Everyone in the office at the time responded with something akin too "What the hell are Garlic Knots?" And thought I was crazy and there was no such thing. Then Mike was like...is it bread? Is there garlic on it? Then its garlic bread. This confused me even more, because hes Italian, and how could he have never eaten Garlic Knots? Has the whole world gone topsy turvy? So if anyone does still read this website, chime in and post if you have or have not ever eaten the delectable little appetizers. Thank you.
  • From Mike on 8/27/2005:
I am a bit skeptical of any Italian food that doesn't have an Italian word in its name, but I looked this up on the so-called internet and apparently it's just garlic flavored dough tied into some sort of knot. I guess it sounds pretty good. Maybe you should make it yourself and bring it into the office, then claim victory.

    Jack's Mannequin
    Justin, 8/25/2005 12:34:35 AM
Justinsound: what of my list idea
Mike M16: its good but I'm goin to sleep for the night
    Mike M16: later
Justinsound: you can sleep when your dead
    Mike M16: i'll be dead if I don't sleep

I thought that was pretty funny...at any rate my list idea was to rank our top 50 TV shows ever in one of those lists that everyone else will disagree with. I plan on doing that sometime this week. In other news go buy the new Jack's Mannequin CD, Everything In Transit right the fuck now.

If you didn't already know, Jack's Mannequin is Andrew McMahon from Something Corporate's side project. Featuring Tommy Lee on drums, this CD is everything that the sophomore CD from SOCO should've been. Featuring poppy but not too poppy hooks, and a joyous fresh sound that borrows a little something from Brian Wilson or maybe even the Monkees or Beatles, this CD will make you want to dance or just roll down your windows and sing along. Nothing too heavy and no melodramatic moody ballads like on North, I think this one captures the true spirit of McMahon's lyrical leanings (kind of a lazy heart warming love story) and gift for catchy music that you will want to play on repeat until you know all the words by heart. Highlights include opener "Holiday From Real", insanely catchy "La La Lie", and the two part album closer "MFEO" (or "Made For Each Other" and "You Can Breathe Now"). Anyway words can't really do this justice, just do yourself a favor and listen to it right now, because it might just be the best CD this year.
And I also want to mention that the artist behind this masterpiece Andrew McMahon as most of you know, was recently diagnosed with Leukemia, and just yesterday went in to the hospital for a transfusion from his sister...Andrew is expected to make a full recovery, and he better so I can see Jack's Mannequin live since I missed them the first time around...But in the meantime everyone should head on over to JacksMannequin.com and order up some special Jack's flip flops with all proceeds going to pediatric cancer research!

    What would you do?
    Mike, 8/21/2005 11:25:21 PM
Looking around my sparsely furnished new room, the place looks totally cavernous and empty. I ask you, loyal readers... how would you fill out this room?

    The Master Has Returned...
    Mike, 8/18/2005 10:55:53 PM
Wheeeeew! After an epic 18 days without internet access, I am back! I'd like to say the excess solitude finally gave me time to read War and Peace, paint a wall-sized mural, and write a computer program that will change the world; however I mostly just sat around or played Hearts of Iron II. I guess the lesson I've learned is that the internet saps your creative energy and vitality whether you're connected to it or not. One hit and you're hooked, baby!

So I'm currently lounging in my cavernous new bedroom in Baltimore's finest high rent district (although Baltimore is America's low rent district), and I'm pondering if my room is arranged correctly or not. Also, this apartment thirsts for new furniture like that hotel in The Shining thirsted for blood. Anybody have any extra futons? Justin, if you bring your own couch, you can be The Guy On The Couch forever.

    Hey let's do this...

Currently listening to: The Getup Kids - Live at the Granada Theatre
Currently watching: Undeclared the DVD set
Currently reading: The dictionary in preparation for the GREs
    I like: pizza
  • From Justin on 8/20/2005:
Welcome back my main mofo....hey I think we should add that thing to the site like Xanga has, where we can list what we're listening to or watching and it shows a picture of the CD or DVD or whatever. That said here's what I'm up to.

Currently Listening to:Jack's Mannequin - Everything In Transit
Day At The Fair - The Rocking Chair Years
Less Than Jake - The LTJ Mix I made

Currently Watching - It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia on FX,
    Entourage Season One on DVD
Currently Reading - Nothing, I need a new book. Maybe the Rivers Cuomo book. Anyone have any suggestions?

    I Wish, I Wish Upon A Fish
    Justin, 8/17/2005 06:02:15 PM
Hey folks, I like stuff. And it will be my birthday again in 8 more months. But more importantly than that, the holiday season is a mere 4 months away, so I figure you had all better start shopping for me. Besides cash and women, the best and easiest way to do this would be to check out my amazon.com wishlist! So here is the link...now get to it!

You can see Justin Kutcher's entire wishlist at:

So after moving my DVD collection in 2 1/2 big boxes (all dvds), even I took a moment to appreciate the size and scope of my collection. This seemed absurd to even me. So, I was considering ditching the cases and just putting them all in binders. Thoughts?
  • From Justin on 8/19/2005:
That would decrease the epicness of owning a lot of DVD's...Actually last night I decided a recount of mine was in order...I'm now in excess of 400...moving them is going to be bad for my back.

    It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
    Justin, 8/16/2005 12:24:38 AM
As written on the train last night:
Well I'm back from another...ordeal in NYC. Heres the recap.
I arrived from Trenton to Penn Station around 8ish on Friday with a dream in my heart...that dream is my car not being stolen from Trenton Station while I'm gone. Anywho me and Jgo went over to Bubba Gumps in Times Square for dinner and ate some good food from Greenbowe Alabama. Afterwards we caught Bill Murray in Broken Flowers (see movie section for review) and Jgo fell asleep in the middle.
Saturday of course was Warped Tour at Randall's Island. I won't bore with every little detail, but I will say that literally...it was the HOTTEST DAY OF THE FUCKING YEAR. I drank a 1 liter bottle of water, 3 other normal sized bottles, and a huge lemonade while outside...and didn't go to the bathroom once due to sweating it all out in the opressive heat. Randall's Island makes the Tweeter Center look like Shangri-fucking-la. No inside, just a field with a bunch of tents. Now the heat was slightly unbearable...but it was the heat combined with the unrelenting clouds of dust that continuously permeated everything ALL DAY. It was like breathing in a sandbox for 8 hours. We took to wearing surgeons masks nearly all day, but we pressed on.
    We saw:
    The Starting Line/Over It/Big D And The Kids Table/MxPx/Hot Rod Circuit/The Offspring/Fallout Boy.
We made it in just in time for TSL's 11:50 AM set...then for awhile nothing happened. Over It was ok, didn't know much of their stuff though...Big D was very impressive and energetic...if you like Reel Big Fish style ska check em out. MxPx was enjoyable as always, HRC blew me away again, those guys are too good to not be famous. The Offspring dug deep and played all classics, nothing from the last 2 albums...Dexter even brought out a hose to spray down the crowd. FOB played dead last and the crowd energy was completely off the charts...Everyone left on the whole island became a wave of humanity trying to get close. Too bad Pete kept telling New Jersey they were awesome until someone informed him they were in NYC. Also notable was that I caught the end of My Chemical Romance's set and they brought out Adam from Taking Back Sunday for "Helena". Good stuff.
I also bought my "Don't Get Emo" t-shirt, which rules. Thats about all.
After the show and a much needed shower we walked to Chinatown and based on a Zagat rating ate at the Green Bo (I ate at Green Bo and a place inspired by Greenbowe this weekend...theres gotta be some kind of significance to that but I don't know what.) The food was awesome, but the waiter was an assclown. We also hit up some bars in Greenwhich Village (Off The Wagon and The Peculier Pub) and met Jgo's friend Erin who is a nonfiction writer. Shes working on a piece about "Slow food"...I found this interesting for some reason. We also got some late night eats at The Pizza Booth, a place that ironically has no booths.
Sunday we hit up the Yankees game...got there late, hour long rain delay, then we left in the 8th when it started raining again...but we did see Matsui and A-Rod homer, the Yanks won, and I can now say I've been to Yankee Stadium. Finally we went to dinner at the world famous Carnegie Deli on the way back and had some ginormous sandwiches. Afterwards when it became apparent that we had accomplished everything we set out to do over the weekend we became very confused and scared because that never happens.
Also when we got back to Jgo's place we watched the series premiere of "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" which was FRIGGIN HILARIOUS and reminded me or how much I missed home. So then as I walked out the door to go home, I met the returning Jay Crim for the first time apparently...we shared a moment, and then I had to go. By this time it was absolutely pouring out, and Jgo trooper that he is came out and hailed me a cab.
As the driver told me how he could only see about 25 feet in front of him and I feared for my life and checked out the city, I noticed that theres so much stuff to do there, that there was no need to ever repeat anything for years. I could go to different restaurants or bars and never have to go to the same one twice the place is so damn big. In fact its a lost cause. After some recent conversations anyway I realized how much I actually loved Philly and how theres plenty to do here, but I don't mind repeating the good stuff so much after all. New York might be a nice place to live, but its a pain in the ass to visit because you'll never be satisfied. You can never do it all unless you actually did live there. And the subway freaks me out far too much for that. But hey, at least its not New Jersey.

    Breakin 2:Electric Boogaloo
    Justin, 8/11/2005 11:02:14 PM
Hey peoples, long time no post. Anyways Mike should be back soon as he is moving into his new place finally this weekend. As for me, I'll be in NYC all weekend to check out Jgo's new place, see the Warped Tour, maybe check out a Yankee's game, and other possible debauchery and foodstuffs. As always, if I don't return from the city I hate so very much, remember me as I lived, with hair like a greek god.
In other news with my viewing of Coldplay last weekend (Which I took in from the PIT and was a PHENOMENAL show...For my money it just doesn't get any better than Chris Martin playing Clocks. "Yellow" was amazing and featured big yellow bouncy balls falling from the ceiling and when popped burst yellow confetti everywhere, a beautiful acoustic version of "Don't Panic", you know the song from Garden State. Awesome show all around, go see them if you get a chance)
I have hit 99 concerts on my all time Concert attendance list. That makes the Warped Tour this weekend my milestone 100th concert. Congratulations to me!
Thanks to everyone whose ever rocked out on the front lines of the pop music war with me, you all know who you are out there. Many of my fondest memories have come in the ampitheaters and clubs up and down the east coast with you guys.
Whether it was scouring the Electric Factory for my lost sneaker after a debacle of a Zebrahead moshpit, asking Michelle Nolan to meet me in the bar for a drink while she was on stage at the TLA, getting stuck in traffic in Virginia for 2 hours while trying to get to a Dave Matthews Band show and watching RJ get in and out of the car 5 times (including jumping into some girls convertible), sprinting through Central Park to find the stage Kelly Clarkson was playing on, or casually chatting it up with Gabe from Midtown as he wanders around looking lost, its always an adventure and a great time. And those were just some of the memories off the top of my head! So thanks for the first 100, hope your there with me for the next 100.
If anybody has a Justin concert memory, or just a regular concert memory they'd like to share, please feel free to post it on up. Theres always a chance I was drunk and forgot.

I thought she was going to be MY new friend Sam
    Justin, 8/1/2005 07:06:18 PM
So I was over on Newfound Glory.com checking for tourdates and I clicked on the link for Ian of NFG's website, and at his website he had a link for THIS website: http://www.datemenatalie.com/updates/

so this dude wants to date Natalie Portman, but I think I deserve her more. Maybe I should go up against him for Natalie in like a version of MTV Room Raiders, or Elimidate, or some sort of gladatorial battle or Dodgeball or Texas Hold Em or something. When I triumph and Nat's all mine, all the websites in the world won't help him.
