Wikipedia Hurts My Eyes
Justin, 6/29/2006 04:06:00 PM
Many of you may or may not know of my new obsession: Reading anything and everything at Wikipedia. Wikipedia knows everything...From the true meaning of the Infield Fly Rule, to the history and mythology of Mortal Kombat, to the legend of Blackbeard The Pirate. I incessantly stare at the stark white background thirsting for knowledge and unable to stop looking things up. This has resulted in my eyes bothering me often for the past couple days. In fact about an hour ago I started wearing my sunglasses in the office to offset this. I also talked to an optician client of mine who told me that he indeed sees a lot of eye problems arising from staring at a comp screen, because the eye focuses, blinks less, and therfore there is less lubrication. His suggestion was to look away from the screen every couple minutes at least, but that I was probably too young for reading glasses. Damn you wiki.

The publisher of Encyclopedia Britannica described Wikipedia as "a public toilet." However, in a side by side comparison, readers found that the error rates between the two were about the same.

Amy Tai's got a fun name
    Mike, 6/25/2006 09:09:03 PM
Here's what I've come up with:

    1) Let's get Tai-ed up
    2) Let's drink some mai Tai's
    3) Take some Tai-lenol for that headache
    4) Watch out for that Tai-phon
    5) Don't get Tai dyed
    6) Let's go to Tai-land (too easy)
    7) With a stop off in Tai-pei
    8) I wonder what my favorite Roman emperor Tai-berious is doing?
    9) Anyone have a dixon Tai-conderoga pencil?
    10) Don't worry, it's made of Tai-tanium
    11) Don't be Tai-ered

Anyways, I'm sure I can and will think of more. The funny thing is, I can't think of a single funny thing to do with the name Amy.

    Gaijin Smash
    Justin, 6/21/2006 05:39:06 PM
So the other day I was passing the time at work in my office (while simeultaneously boiling in the 10,000 degree heat with our air conditioner not working, natch) by reading some of the blogs located at Tucker Max.com's website. He has links to several that he sponsors, and one of them is fairly hilarious, and tells of the happenings of an American man living in Japan and teaching English to Japanese students. Read all about the cultural differences and what Junior High School aged Japanese kids find amusing over at gaijinsmash.net. Domo origato.

    Meals
    1.Toy Story Pizza Planet
2.Coral Reef (Restaurant in an Aquarium at EPCOT's Living Seas)

    Monday
We just went to Downtown Disney to buy crappy souvenirs and ate at the Wolfgang Puck Express, which was surprisingly well priced and delicious.

Then we flew home on crappy Southwest.

That about sums up my trip. We did pretty much all we possibly could in a 3 day span and I hit up ALMOST every ride I wanted to hit, which is all you can really ask for. I will say that I would never again attempt to do it all in 3 days, as I really could've used a whole day in every park, but cest la vie. At any rate we had a fun time and even got to go swimming one night. Though we were too tired to try to go out drinking at all. In conclusion I probably wouldn't wait another 5 years before I go back to Orlando again...Maybe 4.

    MTV Movie Awards
    Mike, 6/8/2006 08:38:46 PM
Some say that the MTV Movie Awards are just shameless advertising for all the summer movies. Those people are correct... but what more can you ask for on a Thursday night after all the TV season finales?!

Also, Jessica Alba holds a special place in my heart-- but does she really have the comic timing and poise to host the one award show that is actually sometimes funny (some of the time)? Guess we'll find out.
