Just when hope seemed lost, the Cheesy Gordita Crunch has returned to Taco Bell's repertoire of faux mexican creations. I sampled the CGC on Monday and Tuesday at the distinguised Jessup taco bell.
First of all, I had to opt for a chicken CGC since our house's beef boycott persists. I was a little nervous about the substitution, but everything worked out OK. The CGC was just as I remembered: crispy, soft, and chewey. Monday I bought one and a regular chicken taco but found this to be totally inadequate. Tuesday, I returned and purchased two chicken CGCs and a side of nachos and was in cheese heaven.
The CGC blows away all other taco bell meals and, I dare say, fast food meals in general. Its been carefully crafted with chemicals and tortilla to make all the flavor receptors in your mouth tingle with delight. With chicken, they are only $2.40 each. So, if you're thinking outside the bun, I recommend you pick one up ASAP lest they dissappear again.
As for me, I think I better give taco bell a rest for the remainder of the week.
It is returned

Skate And Surf Fest '04 Wrap Up
Justin, 4/19/2004 03:06:58 PM
After 3 days of constant rocking, we've finally dropped back down to Earth. Mike and I went the distance this weekened, as we took on Asbury Park New Jersey's annual Skate And Surf Festival. They say only the strong survive in New Jersey, and here we are, back to tell the tale.

All in all a great time was had by all. Many new friends were made, like Winnie The Pooh, the concession lady who wore a wig and had her makeup applied with a bazooka, a beautiful girl who brazenly claimed to have seen TBS 10 times, the asshole who was saving 4 seats in the row behind him whose seats I stole while he was arguing with some girls about said seats, a drive-thru records camera guy, some fans who came all the way from England for the show, and finally Andrew from Something Corporate along with Adam and John from Homegrown who were nice enough to talk to me, autograph my ticket, and pose for a picture with Mike and I after Homegrowns kick ass set that saw Andrew join them on piano with a set ending cover of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'." Our time in New Jersey however wasn't just limited to the S&S Fest, as we checked out Jay And Silent Bob's Secret Stash in Red Bank and chased after hubcaps knocked loose by some of New Jersey's more illustrious potholes. I'm rich beyatch! BEEP BEEP!

I'm the ghost of christmas past boo
I dont go to asbury because that place sucks.
I think Justin pretty much summed up the experience. I think the one thing I wasn't too happy about was the sound was pretty shitty... but what do you expect from a 100 year old, dilapidated venue. I'm just glad the roof didn't collapse on us.
Add Comment PermalinkFighting Your Battles The Manly Way
Justin, 4/13/2004 11:51:29 PM
Back in the day...lets say about 11 years ago now. There was only one way to prove you were the man to all your school chums if you were a nice suburban boy. No not by fighting it out in the school yard, but by testing your mettle on the pixelated battlefields of video games. Thats right, you were nothing in middle school or even high school if you couldn't game. So heres another patented WhatWeSayGoes list of the top ten games to challenge your buddies too back in the day. (Keeping it mainly in the 90's).
10.General Chaos (Sega Genesis) - Not everyone will remember this action filled blood bath classic where teams of 5 soldiers barbecued, bombed and shot each other over pieces of land. To the victor go the spoils.
9.Cruisin' USA (Arcade) - I wasn't that great at controlling the wheel in this cool car game. Then again I'm told I'm not the best driver in real life either.
8.X-Men:Children Of The Atom (Arcade, PSX, Dreamcast) - It may not have been the best, but it was the first of the big Capcom comic fighter game craze of the late 90's that kept many a fanboy up at night to prove who was better...Iceman or Wolverine.
7.Madden Football (PSX) - I was never a big fan of the Football series, but I hear sports fans could get into it pretty hardcore.
6.Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (PSX, N64, PSX2, X-Box, Gamecube) - At the turn of the century a revolution of video game battling was pumped out to the hungry masses:Extreme sports. And this was the kinf of them all. Skateboarding through suburbia, factories, and even through Area 51, many unskilled punkers finally got to say they kicked ass on the board.
5.Super Mario Kart (SNES, N64, Gamecube) - The invention of an interesting new genre (the wacky characters in go-karts genre) led to practically millions of hours of kids firing turtle shells and banana peels at each other in battlemode, or racing each other to the end of Rainbow Road and beyond.
4.NBA Jam (Arcade, SNES, Sega Genesis) - Perhaps no other sports video game has set the world ON FIRE! as much as this one. Teams of the top 2 stars from every team in the league dribbled it out in an attempt to not only win, but to come out with the hottest dunks and shots. To earn a BOOMSHAKALAKA! From the announcer, was to achieve greatness.
3.Mortal Kombat (Arcade, SNES, Sega Genesis and beyond) - No series electrified bloodthirsty arcade jockeys more than this blood spattered battle for control of Earthrealm. I still remember vividly standing with a crowd of people watching as someone defeated Goro early in the games arcade run, and everyone going nuts when the final punch felled the great beast. Classic.
2.Street Fighter 2 (Arcade, SNES, Sega Genesis an beyond) - It may not have had the staying power of MK (or the good movie like MK) but this one kicked off the Arcade fighter sensation. People would fight each other. One would lose, a new competitor would step up with his quarter, and on it would go for hours. Sometimes you would even have to stand in line to wait to fight. Now thats some good stuff.
1.Goldeneye 007 (N64) - The 1st person shooter took on a new life in the battle mode of this game. Who could rack up the most kills in ten minutes? If you could, then you would be revered by your peers as both a legend and a target. And if you didn't get to that rocket launcher first and defend your crown, then heaven help you my friend. Heaven help you.

100 Movies... madness or genius?
Mike, 4/3/2004 03:23:01 PM
Consider this. Seeing 100 movies in a year equates to roughly:
100 x 1.75 hrs = 175 hours of entertainment
or approximately 7.3 straight days of entertainment
which is about 11 days of entertainment factoring in 8 hours of sleep a day.
100 x $6.50 = $650
$650 / 175 = $3.71 per hour of entertainment. Seems like a fair price to me.
100 x 1.75 hrs = 175 hours of entertainment

100 x $6.50 = $650

As someone whose seen over 100 movies I can attest to the value. I was very soundly entertained except for the 2 hours spent sitting through Girl, Interrupted. I wish I could get them back.
So, while I appreciate the rankings that you guys are doing for the movies that you show, I purpose that you take it one step further, to really give us common readers an idea of where you’re coming from. I have known both of you for far too long to take just your movie ranking as something that is trustworthy (strictly on Mike’s DVD collection, Bend it like Beckham, Scooby-Doo, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding all come to mind, lord only knows Justin’s is worse…). So, with that, I propose a new addition to the ranking page. On the top, even before I have to read the review, I think that you need two added pieces of information. The first of which is the cost of the movie ticket, and secondly, whether the movie was worth the money spent on it. This will lend credence to your ranking based on the dollar amount that you feel that the entertainment was worth. In addition, this will allow mike to do an end of the year summary to truly figure out how much money was spent per minute of movie and whether his entertainment calculations actually hold up.
The answer may be too shocking to handle
Yeah, I'd probably have a meltdown. But just to put your mind at east BMD I want to assure you, I rate movies on how much I enjoy them, not how good they are.
For the most part, I rate movies on how good I think they are to provide some contrast. I have to enjoy a movie a lot to give a bad mobie a bump in rating. For example, Walking Tall was a pretty assanine movie, but it was enjoyable, so I bumped it up to 3/5 where in goodness it'd probably be more like a 2.
u coulda easily done tat math just be dividing 1.75 into 6.5 (very slight rounding due to adjustment for sleep)
you're crazy

Prime Time
Justin, 4/1/2004 12:34:46 AM
As some of you out there read this website, you may have noticed I have somewhat of a passion for television, and subsequently you may be sitting there thinking what is it I watch exactly every night. So for the first time ever, I present...my primetime viewing habits this season!
Monday:
8:00---Bernie Mac
8:30---Cracking Up
9:00---WWE Raw
Tuesday:
8:00---American Idol (I've been sucked in, what can I say?)
9:00---24
9:30---Scrubs (Flipping between 24 and Scrubs)
10:00--The Shield
Wednesday:
8:00---That 70's Show
8:30---American Idol
9:00---The OC
10:00--South Park
10:30--Chappelle's Show
Thursday:
8:00---Friends
8:30---Will&Grace
9:00---WWE Smackdown! (It should be noted that Smackdown! begins at 8:00 and I used to tape this and watch NBC's comedy lineup from 8-10 which included Scrubs until mid-season when the dreadful Apprentice got put on by NBC)
Friday:
Theres TV on Fridays?
Saturday:
11:30---Saturday Night Live (no matter how bad it gets, I'll always tune in if I'm around.)
Sunday:
7:00---King Of The Hill
7:30---King Of The Hill/Simpsons
8:00---Simpsons
8:30---Simpsons/Bernie Mac
9:00---Malcolm In The Middle
9:30---Arrested Development
Fox's Sundays get increasingly more worrisome with the aging repetitive Simpsons being run and rerun ad naseum in 3 slots including the perfectly good spot for Bernie Mac at 8:30 it just took last week. And I'll NEVER forgive Futuramas treatment EVER.
That about does it for my prime time viewing habits...of course theres about 21 more hours left in the day with which to do things, but most likely I'm using it to watch reruns of good shows.

Some people think I watch a lot of TV. They are wrong. I used to, but that's a different story. Here's what I watch now regularly:
Monday:
Nothing
Tuesday:
9:30 Scrubs
Wednesday:
10:30 Chappelle's Show
Thursday:
Nothing
Friday:
Nothing
Saturday:
11:30 SNL if possible
>1:00AM if I'm home: Family Business / Chris Isaak Show ... whatever Showtime feels like putting on
Sunday:
8:00 Simpsons
9:30 Arrested Development
10:00 The L Word
It's a pretty grim schedule for a once TV-junkie but since TV sucks so much now, I usually just opt to do whatever with the TV turned off.
