Jersey Bound
Justin, 2/28/2005 01:54:57 AM
So here I am, its 1:24 am and I can't sleep. I'm at the beautiful Courtyard By The Marriot in Mahwah, New Jersey for round 2 of my Liberty Travel training. I tried sleeping once already, but I guess I'm not used to beds anymore and can't sleep unless its on my sciatica wrecking futon.
Actually the real reason I probably can't sleep is because I can't stop thinking about the last time I was here and this great girl I met. I left here a month ago feeling great. Since then things have happened to kill my hope. But its 1:28 am and tomorrow its going to snow. A lot. And they say magic can happen on a snow day. So I'm going to go try to conjure up some magic again. Until then, I'll be watching some bad late night TV and regretting my turn to blogging.

Format Change
Justin, 2/26/2005 11:30:20 PM
Bearing in mind something Mike said last week jokingly about moving this site over to xanga, I've taken it upon myself to start treating this more as a xanga like blog, with constant short posts about whatever I happen to be thinking at the moment. Not everything has to be a Top ten list after all.
So here I am Saturday night, I djed a wedding until 10:00, so everyone else is already out doing something, and I'm sitting here. The good news is I'm not scheduled to officially DJ again until May (which I'm sure will change very shortly). So who wants to spend a Saturday hanging out with me?!?!?
Don't all jump on me at once. Ah fuck it, heres a Top 5 list.

Top 5 Songs Sung By Chicks...ever in the history of the world... (this one should cause some controversy)

5.You Oughta Know - Alanis Morisette
4.Since U Been Gone - Kelly Clarkson (God the things I would do to her...)
3.Let Go - Frou Frou
2.Broken - Belly
1.Walkin' On Sunshine - Katrina And The Waves

If this were Drudge Report this would be a giant flashing headline
    Mike, 2/24/2005 04:57:28 PM
    From y100rocks.com:

Are you ready for Philadelphia to be the biggest town in America without an alternative rock station?
On Thursday, February 24, 2005, 100.3fm, WPLY, Y100, was taken off the air. After nearly 12 years at 100.3, Alternative Rock disappeared from the Philadelphia radio landscape. With it went the musical companion of over 500,000 residents of the Delaware Valley.
  • From Justin on 2/24/2005:
Well Mike posted it after I told him I was going to post it but haven't gotten around to it yet...but yes. My favorite radio station on Earth (actually the only I ever listen too) is now gone to the ages... This deeply upsets me. No more Preston and Steve and Caseyboy... No more Feztivals and Feastivals and Sonic Sessions. I know its a longshot, but please go to that link and sign the petition to bring back my favorite cities best radio station. Or look forward to my ritual suicide.

    Ah yes, my website
    Mike, 2/23/2005 08:36:22 PM
Well, its almost been a month since my last post and I never intended to abandon this lowly site for that long. I would blame it on just the right combination of lack of inspiration and laziness. Sometimes, I'd have a timely article thought up, like, most recently, commentary on the night of homosexual-themed TV Sunday that was The Simpsons, Desperate Housewives, and The L Word, but I'd be too lazy to write my bit that night. Then the next day... and then it felt too late to weigh in on such culturally minute events such as that from three days out. Others, BMD I'm sure, would blame my lack of posts on a certain World War II simulation. Thanks, RJ, for giving me the gift of the most time-consuming computer game ever.

So, in the spirit of this pointless diatribe, here's my...

TOP TEN Things to post when you have no idea what to post about:

    10. Music review
    9. Upcoming movies
    8. The state of the economy, at home and abroad
    7. What's the deal with...?
    6. X-Men plotlines from 1994
    5. Why some people are dumb
    4. Have I done this list before?
    3. The difference between reptiles and amphibians
    2. Why the new Weezer CD is taking so long
    1. Another top ten list
  • From Justin on 2/24/2005:
10.The new Hidden In Plain View CD, Life In Dreaming, is amazing. The new version of Twenty Below will blow you away.
9.Go see Man Of The House, this Friday. Do not go see Cursed this Friday.
8.The economy is tanking here. At least Best Buy is making money though.
7.Whats the deal with Nerds candies? Do they still make those things?
6.Remember the plotline where the person Psylocke switched bodies with, Kwannon came back in Psylockes original body and everyone was like which is the real Psylocke, and then Kwannon died from the Legacy Virus anyway?
5.People who work at Wachovia Banks are dumb. And slow.
4.Yes, I'm fairly certain you have posted a similar list before Mike.
3.Amphibians live in water and reptiles don't, right?
2.The new Weezer CD is taking so long because Rivers had to find himself again by giving up most of his worldly possessions and going back to college...and because god hates me.
1.Maybe we should rename the site UselessTopTens.com

    Deja Vu
    Justin, 2/19/2005 01:08:03 PM
As I sit eating my lunch on Saturday morning and watching my weekly episodes of Full House (It comes on after Spider-Man/X-Men) I notice its the Wedding of Uncle Jesse and Becky Two-Parter. Now getting an intense feeling of Deja Vu, I checked out the posts on this very website and saw that on November 13 I had watched this very same cliffhanger and commented on its ridiculousness.
After 3 months of digesting it has not gotten any less ridiculous. Nor has the fact that I continue to watch Full House.

Do you have hundreds of dollars lying around? If so head to ebay and bid on some memorobilia from the movie Garden State, donated by Zach Braff to raise money for Tsunami Relief.
You can win the gas pump that ZB's character Andrew Largeman found in his gas tank and then chucked into a dumpster or...
An outfit worn by her lusciousness, Natalie Portman in the movie. Heres the link...Good luck!

    The Minds Progression Into Insanity...
    Justin, 2/17/2005 05:41:39 PM
So to give you an idea into how my mind works, heres a somewhat normal occurence for me.
I'm sitting here at my desk drinking a hot tea and eating a dunkin donut and some of the glaze falls into my tea. This reminds me of Mrs.Doubtfire when Robin Williams had whipped cream on his face to trick the social services lady, and some dripped into her coffee.
After replaying the scene where he sticks his head out of the fridge and says "HELLO!!!" about 25 times, I think to myself...wow I wonder whatever happened to the chick who played Robin Williams older daughter in the movie...I bet shes a real hotty now.
This has been a visit into the mind of Justin.
  • From Justin on 2/17/2005:
After further looking into the subject, I discovered that Lisa Jakub is Canadian and hasn't been up to much lately. Her last major film appearance was in Independence Day as Randy Quaids daughter. But the girl has guest starred on Night Court! So extra points there. More updates to come on this breaking story.

    The Year Of Quality?
    Justin, 2/13/2005 07:11:54 PM
So I just took a look at EW's Spring 2005 Movie Preview...and the much heralded Year Of Quality is in definite danger. It looks as if cineplexes will be lacking both quality and quantity between now and the Summer Movie Season kickoff.

Heres What Little There Is To Look Forward To:

    February
    Hitch ------------------2/11
    Constantine-------------2/18
    Man Of The House--------2/25

    March
    Be Cool--------------------3/4
    The Pacifier---------------3/4
    Kicking And Screaming------3/13
    Ice Princess---------------3/18
    Guess Who?-----------------3/25

    April
    Sin City-------------------4/1
    Sahara --------------------4/8
    Fever Pitch ---------------4/8
    Rebound--------------------4/8
    XxX:State Of The Union-----4/29

Now...counting the 6 movies I've already ingested so far (Closer, In Good Company, Assault On Precinct 13, Elektra, Are We There Yet?, and The Wedding Date) and assuming I saw everything I listed, that would make for a scant 19 movies on the year going into the Summer.
Thats down from 32 last year at the same time (that amount had doubles in it though).
Plus Kicking And Screaming looks like its getting pushed back to Summer. And I probably won't really see Ice Princess.
In conclusion I had no real point, you probably should have quit reading after the movie schedule you poor bastard.

    St. Valentines Day Massacre
    Justin, 2/12/2005 04:56:51 PM
With V-Day crashing down in less than 48 hours, I felt it appropos to share some of my most cherished Valentines Day memories..
But I don't really have any, this holiday has never been that kind to me. And we all know most of my happiest memories come from watching TV.
So heres my Top 5 Valentines Day episodes ever!

5.Futurama - Love And Rocket - Bender romances the Planet Express ship, as Fry tries to find a candy heart that expresses his true feelings for Leela. Worth it just for the end voiceover from Dr. Zoidberg.

4.Arrested Development - Marta Complex - Watch as the Bluth Brothers try to figure out who the mysterious "Hermano" is. Yet another hilarious episode in the wacked out tapestry of Ron Howard's masterpiece.

3.Friends - The One With The Birthing Video - Chandler, thinking Monica got him a porno tape for V-Day, accidentally watches a video about the birthing process meant for Rachel, reversing his horniness severely. Also historic for Joey telling Ross how he feels about Rachel, in one of the best cliffhangers in the entire series.

2.The OC - The Heartbreak - The first episode of The OC I ever watched, and the episode that made me an insta-fan... Watch as Seth stands up on a Coffee Cart and proclaims his love for Summer along with the fact that yes, he is a comic book reading emo-geek. Classic.

1.The Simpsons - I Love Lisa - One of the episodes from the legendary fourth season run of the show, this is of course the episode that gave the world the "I Choo-Choo Choose You" Valentines Day card from Lisa to Ralph. The Monster Mash, and the classic President's Day play featuring Bart as John Wilkes Booth (Your next, Chester A. Arthur.). Man that show used to rule.

    Happy Valentines Day faithful readers!

    Its Too Cold Out
    Justin, 2/5/2005 10:47:33 AM
Hey hows everybody doing out there? Felt like a post was due. Sorry we've been neglecting the site so much lately faithful readers, but we've been really busy. Mike was recently nominated for a razzie, and I've been elected Prime Minister of Siam.
Plus theres a big holiday coming up that we have been preparing for...Mikes least favorite holiday, and my fourth favorite holiday, Valentines Day.
    Heres some tips.

Top 5 Valentines Day Tips For The Fellas
5.Flowers never fail. Simple, traditional, and they always bring a smile and hopefullly some action.
4.Romance doesn't like company. Don't bring your buddys along with you to see the lady on V-day. two people is the key number.
3.Take a chance. If theres a girl out there that you've been pursuing nows the day for that big move...Attack with every weapon in your arsenal! Worst that could happen is a restraining order.
2.Memory...If 7 months ago your ladyfriend mentioned she'd like to go skydiving or hot air ballooning or jaywalking or whatever....you plan out a big adventure involving that activity, and then you surprise her ass. Kisses forthcoming.
1.Have Brian M. Davis plan out your romantic evening. For the low low price of 49.95 Brian will take your personal relationship profile dossier, study it with his highly trained pimp eye, and customize your night of love. He will tell you what to say, when to say it, and what to do afterwards. And for an additional 29.95 he will make you a personalized menu for the evening to cook for the woman of your dreams and then give you cooking lessons on how to prepare it, up too and including napkin origami. Brian M. Davis, the date doctor.
    No personal checks accepted.
