As you may or may not know, the delectable Heather Graham recently got her own show on ABC! And as you may or may not know, it was recently canned after a record low one episode! Heres my 5 reasons why it shouldn't be cancelled.
1.First and foremost it was given ONE FRIGGIN EPISODE! How was it supposed to find any semblance of an audience after ONE FRIGGIN EPISODE?!?!? ABC barely promoted the damn thing! I don't even watch ABC and I see 3400 commercials for Lost every week! Why do you need to promote the top network show of the year so much? Everyone knows about it already! Push something else! The only concrete ads for this thing I even saw were the many billboards plastered up and down I-95, which have already far outlasted the show. Not that I'm complaining about looking at a 30 foot tall Heather Graham while I drive, but it might cause me to get into a car accident at some point.
2.The world needs more comedy. Sitcoms are a dying artform, but everyone is quickly becoming bored with shitty reality shows that rip off each other. Notice My Name Is Earl is a hit and Martha Stewart's The Apprentice is already gone. Thats because people work all day and no one wants to go home and watch work. They want to watch Ostriches chasing Jason Lee around a farm.
3.ABC Sucks anyways. FX or HBO could pick up this show, add a little nudity, and bam you've got the second coming of Sex And The City without a leather face looking over the hill cougar like Kim Cattrall.
4.It really wasn't that bad! I mean it could've used a little bit of work (Emily's asian ex-assistant/nemesis was a little much), but the premise was sound. I think with a little tweaking the show might have really find a nice little niche as the romantic comedy of non laugh track film-like sitcoms.
5.Heather Graham is hot. I mean she'll find work smuggling those balloons somewhere else, but this really felt like a sale. Well maybe Dr. Molly Clock can become a more permanent fixture on Scrubs...

Greetings, sports fans. I thought I'd make my official Conference Championship predictions for Sunday's games. The added bonus is this will stay up on the website for all to see how wrong I was for the rest of time, unlike sportscasters whose predictions are quickly forgotten...

I'm having the best week ever
Mike, 1/8/2006 11:07:09 PM
Ah, the shackles of holiday programming have finally been cast off and we're treated to new episodes of all our favorite shows. Here's what's on the plate for this week:
Mon
9 PM - Emily's Reasons Why Not - After her great run on Scrubs last year, Heather Graham pulls her own sitcom. Will it be good? Worth a look
Tue
9 & 9:30 PM - Two new episodes of Scrubs
Wed
8 & 9 PM - Some sort of summary episode of Lost followed by the first new episode in too long. I don't want to give too much away but I hear Kate gives Sawyer a haircut.
Thur
9 PM - My Name Is Earl
9:30 PM - The Office (the smartest comedy on TV)
Sun
8 - 10 PM - Season 5 of 24... this year I'm gonna spend a day with Jack Bauer.

Oh yeah, there's also about 12 hours of must see football next weekend...
What am I going to do now that The OC is on at 9:00 PM Thursdays now??? My Tivo is going to be very confused...

I was just given the scoop on this website, http://www.metacritic.com/, that compiles reviews for all media. In addition to their regular critical mass ratings, they've compiled a meta-top ten list using the top ten lists of a shitload of entertainment magazines.
Interesting stuff, but when you see what makes the top ten, I'm sure you'll be sticking with WWSG for your primary source of top ten-ness.

The Final Cut:Top Ten Concert Moments Of 2005
Justin, 1/2/2006 11:11:49 AM
10.Saves The Day - 10/21/05 - Firefly:STD returned after exactly a year away while they worked on their new album and getting a new record label, and they kicked it all off by playing my favorite song to open the show for the first time in about 3 years. Can't wait for that new cd.
9.Fenix TX - 10/20/05 - Any Way You Want It:I'm pretty sure I'll never see Journey live, so when Fenix TX busted this Journey classic out mid-set to an insane (small, but insane) crowd it was as close as I was ever going to get. That plus we'll probably never see Fenix TX again live, as this was their reunion tour and they couldn't even make it through that whole thing without breaking up.
8.Jimmy Eat World - 4/15/05 & 4/26/05 - Sweetness:Seeing Jimmy live for the first time in 3 years was just as fantastic as I had imagined it would be. Crazy stage set up with a hundred TV's, epic intros with a build from just Jim to the full band joining in...but it all paled in comparison to the grand finale of encore "Sweetness", which Erin actually captured on digital camera at the Atlanta show...But me and Mike were really really close at the Philly show, so its a real toss up as to which one was better.
7.Presidents Of The United States Of America - 3/31/05 - Peaches & Shout:It took about a decade, but we saw PUSA! We heard "Peaches" live! But the craziest moment of the show came when The Presidents played "Shout" and had everyone in the club go down to the floor for the "and a little bit softer now" part. Those guys are consummate showmen.
6.Coheed And Cambria - 11/13/05 - The Final Cut:Coheed kicked it up another notch at another grand performance, this time featuring a crazy stage set up with holographic windows, an angel, and a giant 20 foot guillotine. At the end of the encore they did "The Final Cut", which featured an incendiary 15 minute Claudio solo, as well as the guillotine coming down and decapitating the angel. Of course I turned around and missed that. But still pretty cool.
5.Kelly Clarkson - 5/21/05 - Since U Been Gone:I took my friend as a birthday surprise to see Kelly in Central Park. Kelly is HOT. And she rocked. I'd like to do her.
4.Green Day - 9/1/05 - Holiday:I was right on the field at Giants Stadium for one of the biggest Punk Rock shows of all time, hiding behind Jgo and smokin with some chick I met at the show. How many people can say they did that on the field at Giants Stadium? Plus they rocked hard.
3.Pearl Jam - 10/3/05 - Rockin' In The Free World/Yellow Ledbetter:What else can I say about this one? All the houselights up, everyone in the building sining along...Just goosebumps.
2.Weezer - 7/14/05 - Surfwax America:The Weez played the Borgata with me about ten feet away directly stage center. For the encore this was played for the first time since 2002, but it was post song when it finally happened. I got a Weezer setlist and realized a lifelong dream. Now if I could just get that pair of River's glasses I'd have all the concert souvenirs I've ever aspired to get.
1.Weezer/Foo Fighters - 10/13/05 - Photograph & Song 2/Everlong:One of the Top 5 best shows I've ever been too. Weezers set ending "Photograph" sung by Pat with Rivers on drums going into Blur's "Song 2" was all the giddy fun missing from Weezers first return show earlier in the year. And hearing "Everlong" live meant that I was having the best week ever. Thanks geritol.
And finally 2005 Concerts By The Numbers:
31 Shows with performances from
79 Different Bands (plus repeats) at
18 Different venues across
5 States (NJ, PA, MD, NY, GA)with
21 Different People
Thus endeth 2005.

Dust In The Wind
Justin, 1/2/2006 06:28:03 PM
WWSG mourns today as actor Patrick Cranshaw died Saturday at the ripe old age of 86. Of course Cranshaw played the character of Blue in one of the funniest movies of all time "Old School". Heres an article about it. And one last "You're my boy, Blue!" to you. We'll miss ya buddy.

Well, I guess Pittsburgh was worth a damn afterall; perhaps with some help from destiny. My Seattle prediction was pretty close though.
